Building on your Strengths

Location: University of Cape Town – Upper Campus

Project Brief Outline:

Through a process of reflection and analysis I was tasked to look back on every design project I have done in my time as an architectural student, and to identify the aspects of my own design development that are most important to me. I then had to design a place for human inhabitation no larger than 20m2. The site of my building must be on UCT’S upper campus within a 100m radius of the south entrance to the Centlivres Building on University Avenue.

Brief Description:

Through my reflection, I discovered that my strength is in concept, site analysis and plan. The habitable space that I have designed was a contemplative space that blended into the landscape, right next to the UCT Jammie South Bus Stop. It is a space for students to unwind while waiting for the Jammie, or during their breaks on campus.
